Bunny-Gram Funny Singing Telegram

A client calls up and says, “I would like a singing telegrams to embarrass my brother”. We tease each other (out of love) and the thing he “hates” the most is when I embarrass him. Fast forward to his birthday. He is hard at work with all of his co-workers. A singer in a bunny costume and a big bouquet of balloons shows up and walks through all the offices gathering all his co-workers by saying “the birthday bunny is looking for Mitch the birthday boy”. Everyone grabbed their cell phone cameras and started following the singer.

We arrive at his bosses office where was summoned to a fake meeting a few minutes before the singer arrived. The singer sings hands him the bouquet of balloons and announces that his “wonderful perfect sister wants to do something special for his birthday and she hopes this won’t embarrass him. The singer puts bunny ears on his head. The whole office is laughing and videoing as he turns bright red and says “I’m going to get her back, don’t worry!!” The singer sings “Happy Birthday” and then leads everyone in “Happy Birthday” followed by posing for lots of pictures. I’m sure he and his sister still tell the story.

One-Person Band

One of my favorites that we’ve done many times. Trombonist with bass drum on back and percussion instruments on arms and legs. The scenario goes like this: First, perform happy birthday on the trombone with percussion instruments after each phrase for comedy. Secondly, the one-person band musician sings Happy Birthday with custom extra verses.

One time the the one-person band musician was customized to pose as a crazy street musician and play for the birthday boy when he came out of a show.

Scene:

Musician: “I’m going to play something special for you! I bet you like the stylistics (birthday boy’s favorite band). This is for you, because ‘You Make Me Feel Brand New’. Woo!”

Musician plays: The Stylistics song “You Make Me Feel Brand New” in flamboyant way.

Musician says Toward end of song, “This is the lesser known part of the song,”

Musician plays: “Happy Birthday” in crazy way getting more recognizable at the end.

Musician: Sam If you haven’t guessed yet, your wonderful daughter-in-law Sarah let me know your having a very important birthday today.. She & Ken want to do something special for you so this is Your Singing Telegram!!!

This funny birthday singing telegram ended with a custom song with one funny verse and three personal verses.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Sam
Happy Birthday to you.

So many kids that you raised
Some were not yours by birth
You gave God’s love to all of them
It’s just part of your worth.

You take photos for fun,
And like to shoot a gun,
But don’t call you Samuel,
Not even in fun.

Your family loves you,
And your wife Sheila too,
Sal is watching over you,
All are blessed by you.

Custom Lyrics from another One-Man Band Singing Telegram

From Daughters to Mom. Performed at work so all her co-workers could enjoy.

From your daughters to you,
this surprise is for you,
so what could be more grand
than a one woman band!

You’re a really great mom,
and you stay really calm,
we know we all drive you crazy,
but you’re always supermom!

Happy birthday to you,
From Ashley, Sherrie, Carly, Arrianna and Joey too.
Happy birthday dear Donna
Your a really great Momma.

Now your 50, it’s true
There’s more younger than you,
But look on the bright side,
You’re not ready for glue.

Now your 50, it’s true

Hire Orlando Brass Musicians

Orlando brass musicians for hire, orlando brass quintet picture
Orlando Brass Quintet by Music Remembrance

Your thinking you may like to hire Orlando brass musicians to play music for your wedding or event. What kind of brass groups are available in Orlando, how do you choose one, what are the costs and what kind of music do they play? Here are some answers to these questions about how to hire Orlando brass musicians. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact our music coordinator Andrea. Whether you are are about to hire Orlando brass musicians or are planning music for another state or country, we are always happy to help.

What kind of Orlando Brass Musicians and Brass Groups Are There?

Brass Quintet Two trumpets, french horn, trombone and tuba. (Add french horn to Brass quartet)
Brass Quartet Two trumpets, Trombone and Tuba This ensemble sounds full and has the versatility to transform from a classical ensemble to a jazz quartet. Can perform all styles of music and easily perform requests.
Trumpet A solo trumpeter is a great choice for weddings. Add an organist or pianist for a full sound.
Fanfare Trumpets The long dramatic trumpets to perform a fanfare announcing any event. A dramatic way to announce that the bride is about to walk down the aisle.
Brass Band A brass band is a band of all brass instruments and drums are often added. They perform Mardi Gras, Great Gatsby, Dixieland and funky New Orleans music. Great for themed events, lively parties, Fat Tuesday, conventions and parades.

How To Hire Orlando Brass Musicians: Choosing the right ones for you

To hire Orlando brass musicians, here are some questions to ask:

Are the musicians full time professional performers?

Many musicians will answer yes when they actually make there living another way but sometimes perform for pay. Ask if performing (not teaching or something else) is their only profession. This way your are insured to book experienced musicians. Just because a musician substitutes in a local symphony, does not mean they have the experience playing events that you deserve. You want musicians that spend their lives practicing their instruments and have encountered every thing that could distract during a performance and know just what to do. e.g. showing up and the power isn’t working. Professionals know to have battery lights. The wedding planner cues to start the bride’s song and then bride’s hair accessory starts to slip and needs to be fixed. A professional ensemble knows to set up so they can see the wedding party before they start to process and there will not be a problem. They will extend the bridal party music and do an extra long fanfare for the bride. Problem solved.

How many brass musicians routinely perform in the ensemble?

A professional ensemble will have several players that know the music for each instrument. This way if someone breaks their leg on your wedding day, another brass player that performs with the ensemble on a regular basis will step in.

Can you play special requests?

A professional ensemble will be able to perform any song that you may request.

What if I want the musicians to play a variety of music styles or a different kind of music for the cocktail hour?

This should not be a problem for versatile professional musicians. Ask your brass musicians if they can perform any jazz, classical or popular song you would like. Classical only musicians will have a problem doing this and will need to have arrangements written for this and often will charge extra.

Costs

The costs for booking brass musicians will depend mostly on the number of musicians you choose. e.g. A brass quartet will be less expensive than a brass quartet and a solo trumpeter will be the least expensive

There should be one price that includes all music you would like for the ceremony including prelude music (music before the ceremony while guests are seated) and postlude music (music while guests leave the sanctuary or location). There should be a package available to have the musicians stay for cocktail hour that will be less than hiring another ensemble for the cocktail hour. If you would like another group for cocktail hour, like a jazz duo, you can still save money if your uses some of the ceremony musicians. e.g. Brass quartet for the ceremony and a jazz duo of guitar and trumpet/flugel horn or trombone for cocktail hour. When choosing a musician that will need to be a classical and jazz expert, Music Remembrance will reserve the perfect versatile musician for you.

Music

A professional brass ensemble should be able to play any song in any style of music that you would like. Popular music choices for brass music groups are classical, jazz, Broadway, popular music and dixieland.

I hope that you find these tips for hiring brass musicians helpful.  Please let us know what you think below.  We love to hear from you!

Top 10 Traditional String Wedding Music Songs

Posted on

string wedding music, violinThere are many beautiful classical pieces string wedding music.  These are what I believe are the ten most popular for wedding ceremonies.

String wedding music is elegant and understated. It stands alone and creates a sophisticated elegant mood. To add royal grandeur to the bridal entrance, add a fanfare before the bride on fanfare trumpets or add a trumpet, organ, brass quartet or quintet to the bridal processional song.   I am suggesting songs below that this works especially well with.

1  Canon in D by Pachelbel

This beautiful and elegant song has a calm sophisticated sound.  It is commonly called Pachelbel’s Canon and is often seen spelled in its original German spelling of kanon. Because of its mellow sound it is often used for bridesmaids or for brides that would like an understated elegant entrance rather that a grand royal entrance. This song is probably the most famous string wedding music.

2.  Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring by Bach

You may not be familiar with the name of this song but I think almost everyone will recognize it.  It is understated and elegant and often used for mother’s seating, bridal party or for an elegant bridal entrance.

3. Wedding March by Mendelssohn

This song is the traditional song for the recessional (bridal party exit music at the end of the wedding ceremony).  You will recognize this one right away.  Most Catholic and some other churches do not allow this song because it is not a sacred song.

4.  Bridal Chorus also known as Here Comes the Bride by Wagner

This is the most traditional song for the bridal processional and is familiar to everyone.  It is so recognizable that it is only used for the bride and would not be a good choice for the  bridal party.  If it is used people may stand, expecting the bride.   Most Catholic and some other churches do not allow this song because it is not a sacred song.

5. La Rejouissance by Handel

This grand piece is used for processionals and recessionals.  Adds a royal flair to your wedding.  Some brides and grooms add brass or organ to bump it up another notch.

6. Trumpet Voluntary, J. Clarke

This wedding song is also commonly know as The Prince of Denmark March.  You will also find the Trumpet Voluntary incorrectly listed as being composed by Purcell.  It is often confused with Trumpet Tune which is another wedding song.  The Trumpet Voluntary is most commonly performed on the trumpet but sounds elegant performed by violin, string quartet and other string wedding ensembles.  For a more grand entrance, add a trumpet to your string trio, string quartet or string orchestra.

7. Air on the G String by Bach

Often called Air from Suite in D, This subdued beautiful song will make your heart melt.  Most often used for prelude, unity candle, sand ceremony, mother’s seating, it can be breathtaking for a bridal entrance.

8. The Hornpipe from the Water Music by Handel

This Upbeat Royal sounding music is used most often for the wedding recessional (the bridal party exit back down the aisle after the ceremony).  This song couldn’t be more celebratory sounding.  It is also occasionally used for the bridal party or bride processional.  To make a jaw dropping celebratory song, add trumpet, organ, brass quartet or quintet.

9. Ave Maria by Schubert

This song is beautiful and reflective with a subdued quality.  Used commonly for prelude, unity candle, sand ceremony and mother’s seating it is also used often for bridal party processional music and bridal entrance music.  This song is perfect for church weddings and is a standard for Catholic weddings. There are many composers that have written songs named Ave Maria so make sure to specify to your wedding musicians. The Schubert Ave Maria is most often confused with the lesser known but also beautiful Ave Maria by Bach.

10.  A Little Night Music by Mozart

This piece is most commonly referred to with its German name Serenade from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.  This song will be very familiar to your guests.  It can be used for all parts of the ceremony.

Two more popular string wedding music songs to consider

Trumpet Tune by Purcell and Rondeau by Mouret These two songs are best known for being performed on brass instruments but are very commonly played by solo violin, string quartet and other wedding string music ensembles.  They are used for all parts of the ceremony except unity candle and sand ceremony.  For extra grandeur and trumpet, organ, brass quartet or quintet.

Now it’s time to decide which wedding string ensemble is the best for your wedding.  You may choose from everything from solo violin to string orchestra. Romantic Surprise Ideas with Musical Serenades

Posted on

Guitarist performing for romantic surprise, Orlando by MusicRemembrance.comYou are planning a perfect romantic surprise or romantic evening.  Maybe it’s a birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s Day or the day of your proposal.  Hiring musicians for a romantic surprise in Orlando can make your night, a night, you both will always remember.  Hiring musicians to play a romantic serenade will set the tone for the evening or be the big finish with musical romantic surprise.

Personalize romantic surprise serenades for the maximum effect

Coordinating the music to be a wonderful romantic surprise creates a huge impact for romantic serenades.  Music Remembrance has created the most impactful surprises for years in Orlando for singing telegrams, music telegrams and romantic serenades by collecting details from our clients.  We personalize the surprise in every way.  Personalizing the music, personalizing the attire/costume, personalizing the surprise.  Here are some examples that will give you some ideas for yours:

Romantic Birthday Serenade

For one birthday, we coordinated with the restaurant and had our guitarist/singer pretend he was strolling and performing for the restaurant.  He came out to the private patio with the birthday girl and pretended he was performing there next.  He said “How would you like a little Michael Buble?”  This was her favorite singer.  He stated to sing “It’s a Beautiful Day” (her favorite song). She was smiling and singing along.  We rewrote the lyrics for the last sections of the song. We changed the words to “It’s your birthday.” and the rest of the verse described how this was a surprise gift from her daughter.  The mother started to cry and the daughter who couldn’t be with her on her birthday had a video of the whole thing in a few minutes.

Romantic Surprise Proposal

For a romantic surprise proposal, a singer and guitarist came out at the soon-to-be fiance’s favorite restaurant performing a song that described their love, just as she got down on one knee.  We coordinated with the restaurant who sat down champagne glasses seconds before we walked out.

Sending Romance Across The Miles

For a birthday we chose and opera singer for an opera fan.  His fiance was in another country and couldn’t be there for his birthday.  First, she called him first thing in the morning to say Happy Birthday” just as we showed up and knocked on his door.  Second, when he opened the door the vocalist sang “Happy Birthday” operatic style. The singer included his fiance’s name in the song so that he knew it was from her.  Lastly, to heighten the impact, we had a cake with his name on it and personalized balloons in the singer’s hand.  In addition, She got to see the whole thing because we filmed it for her.

Consider personalizing the romantic surprise with these ideas:

  • What is your recipient’s favorite instrument?  If they have one, then request that!
  • What is their favorite kind of music?  Whether it’s country or classical choose instruments that play that kind of music and musicians that play it.  Remember that with romantic music serenades in Orlando, the sky’s the limit.  In Orlando, you may hire musicians on all instruments of any style. Orlando has everything from an opera singers, guitarists, violinists to dixieland and marching bands.
  • Do they have a favorite song?  Then have that performed as a personal romantic surprise.
  • Do the two of you have a “our song”.  Of course, request that it be performed.
  • If using a singer, would your recipient prefer that you chose a female or male singer to serenade them?
  • If they have a favorite singer you can often get an impersonator e.g. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra
  • If you are using a special kind of music have the musicians dress the part.  The sky’s the limit here. For example,

Over the rainbow on ukulele, have them wear a Hawaiian outfit
German music, lederhosen and dirndl dresses
Birthday music, birthday hats and balloons
Punk Rock song, punk rock outfit
1980’s song, 1980’s outfit

Using Brass Music for Weddings: Tips and lists of Brass Ensembles

Posted on

Credit: Sterling PhotographyBrass music adds a regal touch to any Orlando wedding. At the beautiful royal English weddings you will always hear the triumphant sound of the long fanfare trumpets.  Brass music adds a sense of importance, regal atmosphere and pomp and circumstance.  There are many different brass soloists and brass ensembles to fit a variety of types of wedding ceremonies, size of venues, and budgets and they are all available in Orlando and throughout Florida.

When it comes to making a strong regal statement at your wedding, the fanfare trumpets and/or a brass quintet or brass choir really stand out.  Brass instruments can be heard without amplification in large venues and have the capability of playing softer for smaller venues.  If you have a very large wedding venue and want a big sound, the larger the brass ensemble is, the louder the music can be. Even the largest brass ensembles like the brass quintet and brass choir still have the capability of playing softer for smaller wedding venues.  Whatever you choose, brass music for weddings is always regal.

SMALL BRASS ENSEMBLES AND SOLOISTS FOR WEDDING MUSIC

Musicians are paid per person so for weddings on a budget a soloist or a small ensemble works best.  Some of the nicest and most budget friendly choices are:

  • Solo Trumpet
  • Solo Piccolo Trumpet (smaller and higher pitched trumpet)
  • Fanfare Trumpet (the very long trumpet used for fanfares)
  • Trumpet and Organ
  • Piccolo Trumpet and Organ
  • Trumpet and Piano
  • Piccolo Trumpet and Piano
  • Trumpet Duo
  • Piccolo Trumpet Duo
  • Fanfare Trumpet Duo
  • Trumpet Duo with Organ
  • Piccolo Trumpet Duo with Organ
  • Trumpet Duo with Piano
  • Piccolo Trumpet Duo with Piano
  • Brass Quartet (two trumpets, trombone & tuba or two trumpets and two trombones or two trumpets, french horn and trombone)

The fanfare trumpeters in this list add such a wonderful regal presence to weddings but are best used for fanfares (e.g. before the brides entrance).  They are often not the best choice for complete songs for wedding processionals (walking down the aisle) or wedding recessionals (walking back down the aisle after the ceremony).

These brass ensembles and soloists work well for classical/traditional wedding music and other styles.  If you are using unconventional music you can replace the trumpeters with other instruments to fully create a non-traditional atmosphere. Using brass with unconventional music can add a sense of balance and please a variety of guests.  You can also replace the trumpeters with other brass instruments, like trombone or french horn, while using traditional music for a more unconventional sound.

LARGE BRASS ENSEMBLES FOR WEDDING MUSIC

For a more dramatic effect, the larger wedding brass ensembles are breathtaking.  The look and sound are truly royal and have the capability of great volume when needed for large wedding venues.  Some of these brass ensemble choices are:

  • Brass Quartet
  • Brass Quartet and Fanfare Trumpets
  • Brass Quintet (two trumpets, french horn, trombone and tuba)
  • Brass Quintet and Fanfare Trumpets
  • Three, Four or more Fanfare Trumpets
  • Brass Choir (also called Brass Ensemble)
  • Brass Choir and Fanfare Trumpets
  • Antiphonal Brass Choirs (Brass Choirs or Brass Quintets on two, three or four sides of the venue).  To hear this effect listen to the Antiphonal Brass Choirs of Gabrieli.
  • Antiphonal Brass Choirs (Brass Ensembles) and Fanfare Trumpets

Percussion may be added to any of the larger brass groups.

Whether you go with a dramatic large ensemble, a smaller brass ensemble or a brass soloist, using brass music for your Orlando or Florida wedding will set a classy and regal tone that your guests will remember.

New Orleans Band Parade

Posted on

New Orleans Band Parade in Orlando, FloridaA New Orleans band parade is historically for funerals and are now used for funerals, weddings and events.  The New Orleans parade was originally performed by dixieland jazz bands or dixieland brass bands in the early 1900’s.  The dixieland band processes to the grave site performing slow sad music like “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”.  After the funeral service the band plays upbeat dixieland songs  like “When the Saints Go Marching In” to celebrate their loved one going to heaven to be with God.  Now the celebratory part of the tradition is also used for weddings and events.

The New Orleans band parade is often called  “second line” parade.  This is because when the parades were first done, there would traditionally be a “second line” of people marching along with the band.

Events Using New Orleans Band Parades and Music
  • Funerals:  Traditionally the parade is at the cemetery.  The dixieland band processional leads family and friends on foot, or in cars, to the gravesite.  The band performs slow jazz funeral music until everyone gathers at the graveside.  After the service the dixieland jazz band performs upbeat New Orleans jazz music to celebrate their loved one’s transition to heaven.
  • Memorials: New Orleans jazz music at the memorial service.  The band provides prelude music (music before the memorial service), service music hymns and postlude music or parade out of the service music.  The postlude or exit processional parade music is traditionally upbeat second line music celebrating a love one’s transition to heaven.
  • Weddings:  Use jazz brass band parades for your wedding ceremony recessional (walk back down the aisle at the end of the wedding ceremony) for a memorable surprise for your wedding guests.  Some wedding couples like A parade starting right after you walk back down the aisle.  The most popular New Orleans wedding parade is a parade from the ceremony to the cocktail hour or the cocktail hour to the reception.  What a fun surprise for your guests instead of being herded from cocktails to the reception. A trumpet performing a fanfare to get everyone’s attention and then inviting everyone to join the parade.
  • Conventions/meetings: Wake up everyone at your morning meetings with a New Orleans Brass Band parade though the room performing  fun interactive music.   Imagine your CEO leading the parade with a traditional New Orleans umbrella.
  • Parties and Events:  Nothing livens up a party more than dixieland jazz music.  Choose soft background music or a fun lively performance.
