Orlando Brass Quintet by Music Remembrance

Your thinking you may like to hire Orlando brass musicians to play music for your wedding or event. What kind of brass groups are available in Orlando, how do you choose one, what are the costs and what kind of music do they play? Here are some answers to these questions about how to hire Orlando brass musicians. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact our music coordinator Andrea. Whether you are are about to hire Orlando brass musicians or are planning music for another state or country, we are always happy to help.

What kind of Orlando Brass Musicians and Brass Groups Are There?

Brass Quintet Two trumpets, french horn, trombone and tuba. (Add french horn to Brass quartet)
Brass Quartet Two trumpets, Trombone and Tuba This ensemble sounds full and has the versatility to transform from a classical ensemble to a jazz quartet. Can perform all styles of music and easily perform requests.
Trumpet A solo trumpeter is a great choice for weddings. Add an organist or pianist for a full sound.
Fanfare Trumpets The long dramatic trumpets to perform a fanfare announcing any event. A dramatic way to announce that the bride is about to walk down the aisle.
Brass Band A brass band is a band of all brass instruments and drums are often added. They perform Mardi Gras, Great Gatsby, Dixieland and funky New Orleans music. Great for themed events, lively parties, Fat Tuesday, conventions and parades.

How To Hire Orlando Brass Musicians: Choosing the right ones for you

To hire Orlando brass musicians, here are some questions to ask:

Are the musicians full time professional performers?

Many musicians will answer yes when they actually make there living another way but sometimes perform for pay. Ask if performing (not teaching or something else) is their only profession. This way your are insured to book experienced musicians. Just because a musician substitutes in a local symphony, does not mean they have the experience playing events that you deserve. You want musicians that spend their lives practicing their instruments and have encountered every thing that could distract during a performance and know just what to do. e.g. showing up and the power isn’t working. Professionals know to have battery lights. The wedding planner cues to start the bride’s song and then bride’s hair accessory starts to slip and needs to be fixed. A professional ensemble knows to set up so they can see the wedding party before they start to process and there will not be a problem. They will extend the bridal party music and do an extra long fanfare for the bride. Problem solved.

How many brass musicians routinely perform in the ensemble?

A professional ensemble will have several players that know the music for each instrument. This way if someone breaks their leg on your wedding day, another brass player that performs with the ensemble on a regular basis will step in.

Can you play special requests?

A professional ensemble will be able to perform any song that you may request.

What if I want the musicians to play a variety of music styles or a different kind of music for the cocktail hour?

This should not be a problem for versatile professional musicians. Ask your brass musicians if they can perform any jazz, classical or popular song you would like. Classical only musicians will have a problem doing this and will need to have arrangements written for this and often will charge extra.

Costs

The costs for booking brass musicians will depend mostly on the number of musicians you choose. e.g. A brass quartet will be less expensive than a brass quartet and a solo trumpeter will be the least expensive

There should be one price that includes all music you would like for the ceremony including prelude music (music before the ceremony while guests are seated) and postlude music (music while guests leave the sanctuary or location). There should be a package available to have the musicians stay for cocktail hour that will be less than hiring another ensemble for the cocktail hour. If you would like another group for cocktail hour, like a jazz duo, you can still save money if your uses some of the ceremony musicians. e.g. Brass quartet for the ceremony and a jazz duo of guitar and trumpet/flugel horn or trombone for cocktail hour. When choosing a musician that will need to be a classical and jazz expert, Music Remembrance will reserve the perfect versatile musician for you.

Music

A professional brass ensemble should be able to play any song in any style of music that you would like. Popular music choices for brass music groups are classical, jazz, Broadway, popular music and dixieland.

Wedding Song Lists and Wedding Music Guides

Wedding Song Lists, Wedding MusicThese are my favorite wedding song lists and wedding music selection guides.  I have chosen these because they are the most complete lists, with the exception of the “Top 2015 Wedding Songs”.  I added this last one because brides and grooms selecting their music today will find this helpful.  When selecting music I suggest starting with the “Traditional Wedding Ceremony Music” and “How to use Music for the Events of the Wedding Reception” so you may see how many songs you made be wanting for which parts of the wedding ceremony and reception.  The song lists cover traditional, current and all styles of music.  I hope that all brides and grooms and wedding planners will find these helpful.  Please let us know in the comment section and feel free to” share”.  Visit our blog for more wedding music tips and ideas articles.

Traditional Wedding Ceremony Music, Song Lists & Tips

Posted on

Traditional wedding ceremony music, Orlando harpFor those planning their wedding music a good place to start is to know what the traditional pieces are for a wedding ceremony.  There are two pieces that are the most traditional.

Even if you don’t recognize the names of these pieces you will recognize them as soon as you hear them. The Bridal Chorus by Wagner is known by many as Here Come’s the Bride. There is a link to recordings of these and the works below by clicking on the name of the piece.
This is an example of what what be considered traditional music for the entire wedding ceremony:

Below is a list of pieces that often substituted for the traditional wedding music above. They are very commonly used and considered traditional wedding ceremony music too. When using traditional wedding music, it is customary to save the grandest pieces for the bridal processional and the wedding ceremony recessional. Some choose to have a somewhat grand and upbeat piece for the bridal party also, while others select something more subdued thus highlighting the bridal processional. Traditional music for the Mother’s/Grandmother’s seating and the background music for the sand ceremony and other ceremonies is more traditionally more subdued. Some couples that want to highlight the joy of the occasion and choose upbeat pieces for these also.

Common Alternate Selections for the Bridal Party Processional, Bridal Processional and/or Recessional

  •
  • Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Bach
  • Canon in D by Pachebel
  • Ode To Joy by Beethoven
  • La Rejouissance by Handel

Alternate selections for Sand Ceremony or Mother’s Seating Music

  • Ave Maria by Bach
  • Ave Maria by Schubert
  • Spring from the Four Seasons by Handel
  • Winter from the Four Seasons by Handel
  • Meditation from Thais by Massenet
  • Air On A G String by Bach

Great Budget Saving Tips for Wedding Music

Looking for ways to save on your wedding music?  Here are some great ways to save money.

Top 6 ways to save money on your wedding music

  1. Wedding music is charged by the number of musicians performing.  To save money think of using a solo performer such as a guitarist, violinist, pianist or organist.  If you would like an ensemble consider using a smaller one.  Did you know that string trios and duos are available as a substitute for string quartets.  Brass quartets are a wonderful substitute for the more traditional brass quintet.
  2. Some instruments are more expensive than others.  This has to do with expense of the instrument and availability.  Harp and bagpipes are some of the most expensive instruments and brass ensembles, solo trumpet and fanfare trumpets are some or the most economical.
  3. If you have the ability to have your wedding ceremony at a non-traditional time you can receive significant savings.  Friday evenings and weekends are the most expensive.  You can often save money by having a morning wedding on a weekend or a weeknight ceremony.  If you are able to have a weekday wedding you will receive the highest discounts and can often save on many of your wedding vendors fees.
  4.  Professional wedding musicians cost more than part-time musicians.  This is one area where I would recommend spending money.  It is better to have one great professional musician than a group of part-time musicians. With a full-time professional you are assured of professional musicianship, punctuality, proper attire and deportment, expertise in coordinating wedding music with wedding planners and officiants and expertise and experience in smoothly executing wedding processionals (walks down the aisle) with all sizes of wedding parties.  Most people would prefer to hear a wonderful professional solo violinist rather than an out of tune, squeaky sounding string quartet.  I feel that punctuality is probably one of the most important things to pay for.  A musician that performs for a living understands that leaving enough time for traffic jams and flat tires is part of the job on your big day so that everything is perfect for you.
  5. If you are having music for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, using the same musicians holds big savings.   Here is one example: For the ceremony use solo classical guitar, the same versatile guitarist plays in a bass and guitar duo or performs solo jazz guitar for the cocktail hour and joins the all styles of dance music band for the reception.
  6. For wedding reception music use a band where the singers also play instruments. This saves personnel costs.  e.g. Music Remembrance has a wedding reception quartet that performs all styles including the most current hits. The four instruments are guitar, bass, keyboard and drums and all four members are vocalist too.

Fun Ideas for your Ceremony Music

Posted on

Orlando Wedding ceremony music, Themed wedding, Pirate themeOrlando wedding ceremony music selected today by most brides and grooms is personal to them.  Most brides and grooms used to select from the same few traditional selections, e.g. “Here Comes the Bride”.  Now it has become more popular to personalize your Orlando wedding ceremony music.  Brides and grooms often pick wedding songs, wedding music ensembles or musical styles that are personal to them.  If having unique and personal wedding ceremony music is something that you are thinking about, here are some fun and unique ideas.

  • Have a dixieland band parade your wedding guests from your traditional ceremony to the wedding reception or cocktail hour location.  This is a fun way to transition from a quite and romantic ceremony to a celebratory and party mood.
  • Have a dixieland band parade the bride and groom down the aisle for the recessional after the wedding ceremony.  This can be done instead of the dixieland parade to the reception if the reception site is too far for your guests to walk.  This can also be done in addition to the parade to the wedding reception or cocktail hour location.
  • Use nontraditional music for your Orlando wedding ceremony music.  Many Orlando wedding couples choose to use music that is special to them rather than the traditional classical music.  Music Remembrance had one couple that choose to have alternative 1980’s rock music like songs of “the smashing pumpkins” performed at their Orlando wedding ceremony.  In order to make it more serious feeling and enjoyable for older guests they had the music performed by a classical guitar and bass duo.  This way that had music that was unique and personal to them that still fit the tone they wanted to set for their wedding ceremony and their guests.  If you are a jazz fan, romantic jazz ballads always make a beautiful edition to wedding ceremony music.  They can be performed by vocalists or by instruments such as the trumpet, trombone, saxophone accompanied on piano or guitar.  You could also have jazz ballads performed on solo guitar or solo piano.
  • Use traditional music on nontraditional instruments.  If you are a fun couple that would like to do something unique you may elect to have traditional classical wedding music played on  nontraditional instruments.  Electric guitar or electric guitar duo, electric guitar and bass duo, small rock band, singer with electric guitar, traditional organ with an oboe, english horn, french horn or other nontraditional instrumental soloist, bagpipe ensemble, solo bagpipe (has a limited classical repertoire), accordion, blue grass band, banjo or steel guitar are just a few choices.
  • Use instruments that are special to you.  If you met your fiancé at a concert, if you met your fiancé in a school band or at a concert, or if one or both of you play instruments you might consider using those instruments.  If you met at a John Mayer concert you could use a guitarist/singer that performs his music.  If one of you played trombone and the other piano a trombone and piano duet might be a fun and unique choice that your guests will enjoy.
  • Ethnic music is a great way to personalize your Orlando wedding ceremony music.  If you have an ethnic background or would like to pay tribute to a grandparent or parent from another country, Ethnic music can be so personal and unique.  You can choose from using the style of music, the authentic ethnic instruments or both.  I have yet to see a German band at a wedding so you could be the first in Orlando.

Whether you choose traditional music or something unique and personal for you, your Orlando wedding music will help set the tone and make your ceremony a day to remember.

Using Brass Music for Weddings: Tips and lists of Brass Ensembles

Posted on

Credit: Sterling PhotographyBrass music adds a regal touch to any Orlando wedding. At the beautiful royal English weddings you will always hear the triumphant sound of the long fanfare trumpets.  Brass music adds a sense of importance, regal atmosphere and pomp and circumstance.  There are many different brass soloists and brass ensembles to fit a variety of types of wedding ceremonies, size of venues, and budgets and they are all available in Orlando and throughout Florida.

When it comes to making a strong regal statement at your wedding, the fanfare trumpets and/or a brass quintet or brass choir really stand out.  Brass instruments can be heard without amplification in large venues and have the capability of playing softer for smaller venues.  If you have a very large wedding venue and want a big sound, the larger the brass ensemble is, the louder the music can be. Even the largest brass ensembles like the brass quintet and brass choir still have the capability of playing softer for smaller wedding venues.  Whatever you choose, brass music for weddings is always regal.

SMALL BRASS ENSEMBLES AND SOLOISTS FOR WEDDING MUSIC

Musicians are paid per person so for weddings on a budget a soloist or a small ensemble works best.  Some of the nicest and most budget friendly choices are:

  • Solo Trumpet
  • Solo Piccolo Trumpet (smaller and higher pitched trumpet)
  • Fanfare Trumpet (the very long trumpet used for fanfares)
  • Trumpet and Organ
  • Piccolo Trumpet and Organ
  • Trumpet and Piano
  • Piccolo Trumpet and Piano
  • Trumpet Duo
  • Piccolo Trumpet Duo
  • Fanfare Trumpet Duo
  • Trumpet Duo with Organ
  • Piccolo Trumpet Duo with Organ
  • Trumpet Duo with Piano
  • Piccolo Trumpet Duo with Piano
  • Brass Quartet (two trumpets, trombone & tuba or two trumpets and two trombones or two trumpets, french horn and trombone)

The fanfare trumpeters in this list add such a wonderful regal presence to weddings but are best used for fanfares (e.g. before the brides entrance).  They are often not the best choice for complete songs for wedding processionals (walking down the aisle) or wedding recessionals (walking back down the aisle after the ceremony).

These brass ensembles and soloists work well for classical/traditional wedding music and other styles.  If you are using unconventional music you can replace the trumpeters with other instruments to fully create a non-traditional atmosphere. Using brass with unconventional music can add a sense of balance and please a variety of guests.  You can also replace the trumpeters with other brass instruments, like trombone or french horn, while using traditional music for a more unconventional sound.

LARGE BRASS ENSEMBLES FOR WEDDING MUSIC

For a more dramatic effect, the larger wedding brass ensembles are breathtaking.  The look and sound are truly royal and have the capability of great volume when needed for large wedding venues.  Some of these brass ensemble choices are:

  • Brass Quartet
  • Brass Quartet and Fanfare Trumpets
  • Brass Quintet (two trumpets, french horn, trombone and tuba)
  • Brass Quintet and Fanfare Trumpets
  • Three, Four or more Fanfare Trumpets
  • Brass Choir (also called Brass Ensemble)
  • Brass Choir and Fanfare Trumpets
  • Antiphonal Brass Choirs (Brass Choirs or Brass Quintets on two, three or four sides of the venue).  To hear this effect listen to the Antiphonal Brass Choirs of Gabrieli.
  • Antiphonal Brass Choirs (Brass Ensembles) and Fanfare Trumpets

Percussion may be added to any of the larger brass groups.

Whether you go with a dramatic large ensemble, a smaller brass ensemble or a brass soloist, using brass music for your Orlando or Florida wedding will set a classy and regal tone that your guests will remember.

Why Use Classical Music for Your Orlando Wedding Ceremony Music?

Posted on

Orlando Wedding Ceremony Music, string

SivanPhotography.com

Classical music is one of the most popular choices for Orlando wedding ceremony music. Using classical music for wedding ceremonies adds a sense of sophistication and class. There are many other reasons that classical music works wonderfully for wedding ceremonies and is so popular.  I will discuss some of them and you can decide if classical is the right choice for your wedding music.

When you are shopping for a wedding dress most brides want something that will not look silly and dated in pictures and videos years from now. Most brides look for something more timeless.  When it comes to choosing wedding ceremony music, couples often do not think of timelessness and select music of the current trend.  Current music makes a statement that day but when looking back at videos 25 and 50 years from now will you think, “what was I thinking?”  Classical music has stood the test of time for hundreds of years and will always sound timeless.

What tone are you trying to set for your wedding ceremony?  The music plays an important role in setting the wedding ceremony tone.  If you are having an elegant, sophisticated, royal or luxurious wedding, classical music will set the tone. Classical music is so varied and vast that it can be used for almost any tone and many themes like: winter wonderland, autumn, spring, summer, flowers, simple, fun, Halloween, Christmas etc.

Religious wedding ceremonies often have music restrictions.  Choosing classical music from the large variety of sacred classical music can easily fit any church’s wedding music guidelines.  Some religions and churches also have restrictions on what instruments can be used and most classical ensembles are acceptable under these restrictions.

Most traditional wedding ceremonies have a somewhat serious tone to accompany the serious and important nature of the vows being taken.  Using classical music can help highlight the importance and significance of these important vows.

When selecting music for your wedding ceremony it is important to think about all of your guests.  One kind of music that everyone can enjoy and won’t offend anyone’s ear or sense of taste is classical.  It won’t be too harsh or loud for your older guests. Although classical music may not be what all of your guests normally listen to, it is used so frequently in TV shows, commercials, movies and schools that it’s something that everyone can relate to in some way.

Below are some examples of Classic Music Wedding Ensembles that are popular and add a sense of sophistication and class.

Royal and Regal
Sophisticated and Elegant
  • String Quartet
  • String Trio
  • String Duo
  • Solo Violin
  • Vocalist with piano
  • Vocal Duo
  • Vocal Quartet
  • Choir
  • Solo Classical Guitar
  • Guitar Duo
  • Flute and Guitar Duo
  • Harp
  • Harp and Flute Duo
  • String Orchestra

These are some of the many reasons classical music is so very popular for wedding ceremony music in Orlando.  Now you can decide if it right for your very special day.  For information on hiring classical ensembles please visit the Music Remembrance web site.

What is Music Remembrance and Why Was it Started?

Posted on

Music Remembrance, Music Ensembles, Orlando, FLMusic Remembrance was started to connect the finest full time professional musicians with those needing music while ensuring exceptional professional service.

We have been providing bands and music ensembles for wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, parties, conventions, concerts, festivals, parades, graduations, church services, events and musical telegrams in Central Florida since 1990. Music Remembrance uses full time professional musicians from Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and the Symphony.  Clients may use one of our ensembles or bands on the Music Remembrance web site or we can fill even the most unusual requests like marching bands and Ukrainian violinists dressed in costume.

Providing Professional Musicians

I started Music Remembrance because I saw that wedding couples, party and event hosts often seemed to have trouble finding quality entertainment for events.  Most great musicians spend their lives performing and practicing and neglect to make any time for marketing and are thus hard to find.  Because of this, many Central Florida, Orlando and Tampa wedding, party and event planners do not know the best professional musicians.  In addition to this, some music consultants, live music web sites and music agents choose to use inexperienced musicians because they can pay them less and keep more profit.

I thought that someone should have a company that connects the best musicians in Florida with people needing music for wedding and events.  It serves wedding couples and wedding and event planners while helping the virtuosic musicians find rewarding work where they are always among their finest colleagues.

 Providing Professional Service

In addition to full time professional musicians often being hard to locate, I found that many musicians, bands, and ensembles do not always provide professional service.  To me professional service means:

  • Accommodating all of the clients needs and requests.  Music Remembrance has a large number of musicians and bands to accommodate any musical request.
  • Being set up early and solving potential problems
  • Always being on time and knowing that bad traffic or a flat tire are not excuses for being late.  A professional always allows time for emergencies.
  • Providing a professional look.  Always having the appropriate look for the event whether it is a clean and pressed tuxedos or costumes.  Always having a look that is Camera ready for your photographer.
  • That all musicians are always polite, accommodating and friendly to clients, guests and other vendors.

It is a blessing for me to serve others and share good music and professional service for Central Florida, Orlando and Tampa weddings, events, parties, telegrams, memorials conventions and more.

Hiring Wedding Musicians Who Are Excellent

Posted on

Hiring Wedding Musicians, String Trio

Thinking about hiring musicians for your wedding ceremony? Here’s a practical article that can guide you in the process of hiring wedding musicians who are excellent.

As I attended parties, events and weddings in Orlando and Tampa, I noticed that there was a real lack of quality entertainment at most functions.  Often all of the other vendors of a wedding or event were of superior quality but brides, grooms and party hosts were not able to find professional music ensembles and bands.  Most of the ensembles and bands consisted of amateurs, part-time musicians without the full knowledge of performing for these functions, high school students and college musicians.  This can cause several problems.

  1. The music does not sound good
  2. The musicians do not understand all the event needs and their functions.  Here are some examples of of problems caused by this lack of knowledge.  A wedding reception band leader does not coordinate with the other vendors to ensure the dinner music is timed with dinner, the dance music starts immediately after dinner and the cake cutting and other festivities are timed correctly.  There is no mic available for speeches and MCing activities.  The power needs have not been anticipated for the sound system and a fuse is blown.  For wedding ceremonies, inexperienced musicians may not know how to end the music for the bridal processional and there will be long delays in-between the bridal party and the bridal processional waiting for a song to end.

Orlando and Tampa party and event hosts, brides and grooms often find it difficult hiring professional entertainment. I found that the reasons for this are varied.  The top quality professional musicians often do not market themselves.  There are many wedding and event music consultants that have wonderful web sites but send young or inexperienced musicians to events because they can pay them a lower fee.  I have found that some wedding and event entertainment consultants keep 50% or more of what the clients pay.

Here are some tips on hiring excellent professional musicians.

  1. Ask the wedding music consultant how much the musicians get paid or for a break down of costs.
  2. Ask if the musicians are full-time professional musicians.
  3. Don’t ask if the musicians are the same musicians on the web site  One thing that surprises most people is that you should not expect the musicians will always be the same musicians on the web site.  Musicians may have moved, taken full time shows or have orchestra commitments.  A good wedding consultant will have a large pool of full-time professional musicians that they put together that all know the music.  Any time that  a group claims you always get the same musicians is usually a red flag.  This usually means the musicians do not have any other gig conflicts which means they are not superior in-demand musicians and do this part time.
  4. Ask your friends if any of them know a full-time jazz or classical musician.  These musicians usually know who the top party and wedding musicians are.

After you receive the cost breakdown from your Orlando wedding and event music consultant remember that, in music and in hiring wedding musicians, you often get what you pay for.  Full-time professional musicians have spent their lives in the practice room to perfect their craft and the ones that have done this charge accordingly.  With this information I’m sure that you will have a great wedding, party or event with excellent music and without unexpected problems.

Tip: The best way to save money on your wedding music and most of your wedding costs is to have your wedding during a slow season and day.
